Three Part Question
In [a patient diagnosed with first presentation of atrial fibrillation] is [low molecular weight heparin as good as Warfarin] in [prevention of thromboembolic events]Clinical Scenario
A 72 year old, previously well man, presents with a two day history of palpitations, which have subsided on arrival in the Emergency department. A diagnosis of Atrial fibrillation is made, with no obvious cause. The cardiology SHO suggests that you discharge him home, to attend outpatient anticoagulation clinic in five day's time. You wonder whether to start him on Low molecular weight heparins.
